Not My Commit
3:33 a.m. Jitters, a small anxious monkey who codes, is still at his desk. A commit lands in his repo. It has his name on it. He did not write it.
Something behind him is writing them. It only moves while his monitor is on and you are watching the screen. Turn the monitor off and the black glass shows you the room, and where it stands. But in the dark it writes faster.
Every night ends and starts again at 3:33. To undo one of its commits you have to revert one of his own. Catch it at his chair, in the reflection, three times, and morning comes.
Hold Space, a mouse button or the screen to turn the monitor off. R reverts, E or a click grabs. About three minutes. Sound on.
Made for Thailand Horror Jam 2026 (theme LOOP; limitations Lightfall, Film Noir, Faust, Shared Experience) and Beginner's Jam Halloween 2026 (theme Out-of-Sight!).
Tools used
Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no engine. Generative AI was used for code and text only: a coding agent wrote and tested the code and helped with the commit messages. Every picture is drawn by the code with canvas shapes and every sound is synthesized in the browser at run time: no generated image, music or voice. Fonts: Space Mono and Anton (SIL Open Font License).
Like him? Jitters is a 3D character pack you can put in your own game.
